For dysphagia
GentleStim is a medical device (an interferential current low-frequency therapy device) that supports rehabilitation for dysphagia (trouble with eating and swallowing) primarily seen in elderly individuals and post-stroke patients.
Since there are multiple output patterns, you can select the output pattern (treatment mode) that best suits the treatment purpose and usage situation.
Features
-
Gentler interferential stimulation
By applying medium-frequency currents with low skin resistance (such as 2000Hz and 2050Hz) through the skin of the neck and intersecting them within the body, a mild stimulation (50Hz) is generated. A key feature is that it produces very little of the prickly pain associated with conventional low-frequency therapy devices. -
Approach to sensory nerves (sensory stimulation mode)
When the sensation in the throat becomes dull, the swallowing switch (swallowing reflex) is delayed, leading to aspiration. GentleStim uses weak electrical currents to act on the nerves, encouraging the swallowing reflex and cough reflex to be triggered more easily. It can also be used for patients who have difficulty understanding instructions due to dementia or other conditions.
